Riko has over 20 years of experience in assurance and audit. She possesses experience in auditing companies across various sectors such as manufacturing, technology, and retail, where her team conducts both group audits and statutory audits for listed companies. Additionally, she has extensive experience in audits compliant with JGAAP, IFRS, and USGAAP.
In her role as the leader of the Japan Desk and overseeing the Japan–Singapore business corridor in Singapore, Riko demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of operational and cultural dynamics in Japan and Singapore. Her track record showcases effective management of diverse stakeholders.
Having qualified as a Japanese CPA in Japan, she spent 7 years with a Big 4 accounting firm in Japan before joining Grant Thornton Taiyo in 2007. At Grant Thornton Taiyo, her main roles included international auditing and serving as the executive liaison between Grant Thornton International and Grant Thornton Taiyo.
Between 2013 and 2017, she was seconded to Grant Thornton UK as the head of the Japan desk in the UK and European region. Riko's efforts led to significant success, generating new business alongside European member firms.
In 2017, upon becoming a partner at Grant Thornton Taiyo, Riko made history as the first female partner in audit at Grant Thornton Japan. She actively contributes to the profession as the chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee and as a member of the International Education Standard Committee for the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA).
